Steven J. Hipsley, CFP

President/Owner

Steve Hipsley, CFP is the founder and president of Champlain Wealth Management opening the business in 2008 with the vision of helping others plan for and realize their financial future.  After more than 25 years of helping people, Steve understands that retirement is all about lifestyle.  He believes that no two dreams are created equal and that every individual can benefit from solid advice, no matter the stage of their financial life.

Steve is an expert in the design and management of corporate benefit plans and has handled the investments of thousands of company and individual plans, with estimated combined assets in excess of $15 billion.  He also has extensive experience in working with individuals from an asset and risk management perspective, managing their retirement and personal assets. Previously Steve was a Regional Vice President with American Funds Distributors and a MetLife representative where he was awarded the prestigious “Leader’s Conference” award.  He has also held Regional Vice President positions with two third-party administrative firms in Connecticut.

Steve graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a major in Corporate Finance.  He  earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) professional designation in 1998 from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado.

In this changing financial climate, he knows that to successfully achieve their retirement goals, it is critical that clients bring together experts in four areas of their financial lives: investing, estate planning, insurance protection and taxes.  That’s why he regularly teaches seminars to help people learn effective ways to navigate the complicated world of retirement planning and investment options.

Steve, his wife and two sons call Saratoga Springs, New York home, where he has made a personal investment as a baseball coach for over nine years in addition to serving on the board for Saratoga American Little League.  True to form, his favorite aspect of coaching is seeing the kids improve over time.



Douglas Brady
Vice President 

Douglas Brady adds significant value to every client engagement and measures his own effectiveness by the impact his financial plans have on clients’ lives.  He brings extensive experience as an independent planner whose focus is on the relationship with clients and helping them achieve their long-term goals, rather than the sale of a particular product or policy.

Doug educates clients, and even their adult children, about the financial options that are the best fit for their lifestyle, philosophies and dreams.  He is adept at finding creative approaches to financial challenges, especially where multiple planning needs such as retirement, taxes, insurance and estate planning intersect.

Doug has been providing proactive financial counseling advice to clients since 1996 and has designed well over 1,500 financial plans for employees of Fortune 500 companies, as well as clients in the Capital District and the Northeast.  

He began his career with the Ayco Company where he was a Senior Financial Planner counseling executives and high net worth individuals.  In addition, he has a thorough knowledge of guiding clients through the estate settlement process.  More recently, Doug started the financial planning departments of two well-respected financial institutions.  Doug earned his MBA from SUNY-Albany and his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Michigan.  He has his Series 7 and Series 63 securities licenses.  In addition, he has his New York state life, accident and health licenses.

Doug lives in Wilton with his two sons and spends his spare time with his family, playing golf, boating or running.
